Read more...If your vehicle is three years or older, you are required by law to have an annual safety check, the Ministry of Transport test, commonly known as the MOT Test. The MOT scheme is a road safety measure designed to ensure that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles are adequately maintained. If the vehicle fails to meet the required standard, a VT30 'failure' document is issued, and you have up to 5 working days to have any repairs carried out. Items that are not quite a failure but worthy of a mention to you so you can keep an eye on them are drawn to your attention as 'advisory' items.
It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is examined every 12 months.
Make A1 German Car and Bike Specialists in Stevenage your first port of call for your next MOT. Our experienced inspectors and technicians offer affordable and reliable vehicle testing on cars and light commercial vehicles. We work according to the latest trade guidelines, and all our inspections take place with your welfare and safety in mind.
You can book an MOT up to 28 days before its due date. It is not widely known that the expiry date on your new MOT is 12 months from the expiry of your old one. This means you could have an MOT that lasts 13 months. To book your MOT with us, you can call us, and we can arrange a time and a date to suit you.
If the vehicle fails its MOT, it does not meet legal requirements and must be repaired to comply with MOT Test standards. If the car has failed the MOT and is left at A1BN for repair and a re-test, then the re-test is free of charge.
Under the VOSA requirements, an MOT test will check the following components: vehicle identification number (VIN), registration plate, lights, steering, suspension, wipers and washer system, windscreen, horn, seatbelts, seats, fuel system, emissions, bodywork, doors, mirrors, wheels, tyres and brakes.
Book your BMW for its annual MOT with A1BN, and we'll handle everything. Before submitting it for the test, we'll check it over—pre-warning you of any potential problem, such as tyres nearing their legal limit, even if it won't fail the test itself. This will save you time and money and reassure you that you're safer for the road ahead.
